15+ Maternity Hacks/Tips
1.Bra Extenders
Instead of buying a million new bras because your ladies are growing. Save a ton of money and buy bra extenders instead.
2. Ponytail Trick
Man, was this one of my favorite maternity hacks. I wore my regular jeans all throughout pregnancy because of this trick.
3. Belly Band
These are absolutely perfect when you just aren't ready to give up your pre-pregnancy clothes yet. Perfect for layering under clothes. Wear your pre-pregnancy clothes without worrying about showing your belly to everyone. These bands also go hand-in-hand with the ponytail trick.
4. Put Your Bra In The Freezer
Do you live somewhere warm all year round? Are you someone who is constantly hot (me during pregnancy)? Or are you pregnant during the summer months? If so put your bra in the freezer. Trust me, it will leave you so much cooler.
5. Pack a Puke Kit
This may sound weird, but it is a definite lifesaver if you ever need it. Pack a toothbrush, toothpaste, mints, puke bags, extra shirt in this kit. Keep it in a plastic sack in your purse. In order to take it with you wherever you go.
6. Coconut Oil
During the summer months, when you are hot, sweaty, and your legs are rubbing together, use coconut oil to prevent chaffing. Coconut oil can also be used for dry itchy skin. I know when I was pregnant, my skin was a hundred times drier than before my pregnancy. This shapewear is another great option to prevent chafing. In addition, wear this shape wear under dresses, skirts, or anything you desire. You will LOVE this as it will help smooth out your already gorgeous pregnant body.
7. Soak Feet In Epson Salt
Feet swollen? Soak them in a warm bath of salt water. Using Epsom salt has always resulted in relaxing your feet. And during pregnancy, it can help all the more. I have also heard soaking your feet in tonic water can help reduce swelling.
8. Drink Apple Cider Vinegar
In order to prevent heartburn try to avoid rich, spicy, or fried foods. Although, if you do get heartburn try sipping Apple Cider Vinegar. It may be hard to handle the taste, but it helps wonders.
9. Use a Pregnancy Pillow
A pregnancy pillow will be one of the best investments you will make throughout your pregnancy. I am not kidding you!
10. Crackers
If you have extreme morning sickness. Keep crackers by your bedside and eat them before you get out of bed each morning.
11. Tummy Drops
These are a LIFESAVER and when I say a lifesaver, I mean a LIFESAVER! For the first trimester, I felt like I was hungover everyday, and we all know that is no fun! I came across these tummy drops, which I then took each morning and they soothed my tummy instantly! Literally the only thing that made me feel like a normal person.
12. Freeze Pedialyte
Freeze Pedialyte in ice cube trays for when you are not able to keep anything else down, as they will replenish you with electrolytes and prevent dehydration. I love the Pedialyte packets as I was able to mix them up and freeze them whenever I needed. I also kept them in my purse for whenever I needed those extra electrolytes. No need to keep bottles of Pedialyte in your fridge at all times. Or you can try out these electrolyte freezer pops.
13. Pregnancy Wedge
This wedge was exactly what I needed to support my belly and back. I loved propping it against my back in order to stay comfortable as I am a back sleeper (which is not a recommended way to sleep when pregnant). It is comfortable, provides the support you need, and the best part it will help you get a good night’s rest! This wedge is also versatile in that it can provide back support, baby bump support, or knee support. It can also be used postpartum to prop underneath the baby in the bassinet if they have reflux problems!
14. Belly Band
I never did wear one of these, but I did a lot of looking around in order to find a great one for you mamas! One mom said this belt reduced her pelvic pain significantly. Another mom said "I would have never thought that a belly band would relieve pressure. But, I was wrong! The support I get from this band has really helped, not to mention the relief I feel on my lower back." Another reviewer said "I bought this for a friend and her back pain went from an 8 out of 10 to a 2 within the first week of use." Others said number 1 pregnancy belt and say goodbye to pregnancy back pain.
15. Use Kinesiology Tape
Kinesiology tape is another great option to provide relief from pain while pregnant. Being uncomfortable while pregnant can make sleeping difficult, and because kinesiology tape can be worn while sleeping, you can get a much needed rest. Kinesiology tape is also great because it allows you a full range of motion and is cheaper than the belly bands. Find several techniques here for applying kinesiology tape in order to get maximum support for your back and belly.
16. Compression Socks
Promote blood circulation and oxygen flow preventing cramping, fatigue, and swelling.
17. Stretch Mark Cream
Fades the appearance of Stretch Marks and Scars. Reduces inflammation caused by stress on the skin. And helps prevent the occurrence of future Stretch Marks. Seriously, go read the reviews and see for your self the wonders this product does.
18. Add Collagen To Your Morning Drink
There are several different benefits as to why you should take collagen while pregnant. First of all it helps prevent stretch marks. Taking collagen will help retain your skins elasticity, help new skin cells form, and help repair your skin. So this is a great way to prevent stretch marks along with a great way to help your body and skin recover after pregnancy. It keeps your hair, skin, and nails healthy. Taking collagen will also strengthen your joints. Which alleviates aches and pains along with protecting your joints from injury. Collagen boosts energy and metabolism, which we all know every mom wants/needs. Lastly, collagen improves digestion and helps to detox.
19. Sticky Notes For Reminders
We all know pre-natal vitamins are so so important. Although, some of us are not use to taking pills everyday. If you are one of those, leave a sticky note on your bathroom mirror reminding you to take your pre-natal!
